The Magic of Golden Hour: Why Sunset is Perfect for Family Portraits"

Golden hour is considered the best time for photography lighting for several reasons:

1. Soft, diffused light: The low angle of the sun creates soft, diffused light that is flattering for subjects and reduces harsh shadows[1][2].

2. Warm color temperature: The light has a warm, golden hue that enhances colors and creates a pleasing aesthetic[1][2].

3. Directional lighting: The low sun angle provides directional lighting that adds depth and dimension to photos[2].

4. Reduced contrast: There is less contrast between highlights and shadows, making it easier to capture details across the image[1][2].

5. Flattering for portraits: The soft, warm light is very flattering for skin tones and facial features[4].

6. Creative possibilities: The unique lighting conditions allow for creative techniques like rim lighting, backlighting, and silhouettes[2].

7. Emotional impact: The warm, glowing light can evoke feelings of warmth, nostalgia and tranquility[4].

8. Versatility: The light works well for many genres including portraits, landscapes, and architecture[2].

9. Changing light: The rapidly changing light during golden hour provides diverse photo opportunities in a short time span[4].

So while golden hour isn't the only good time to shoot, its combination of soft, warm, directional light creates ideal conditions for many types of photography. The fleeting nature of this light also adds to its appeal for photographers.

This is why I only shoot at this time.
